Audio Stories
I am deeply passionate about music, so I pitched this story to learn more about students in youth orchestras. I enjoyed editing the transitions of the audio, using rehearsal music provided by my sources. This story was later featured on the Golden State Youth Orchestra's page since I interviewed their principal cellist, Noah Vin.
We researched which sports had not already been covered in El Estoque's Time Out series, and chose to cover Water Polo. Ria Sethi is one of the captains, so we asked her about her journey with the sport. This story was technically challenging as we struggled to use the recording equipment, but still persevered.
Video Stories
Since it was the first year of Girls' Flag Football in MVHS history, we decided to do a video story about it. We took B-roll at one of their final games of the season and of the team's signed football in the office. We also got A-roll from the Athletics Director and two key players.
I pitched this video idea because I thought it would be an exciting video for students to watch. The teachers my co-writer and I interviewed also said they had fun filming this. We shot the video wth less of a journalistic angle, but something more along the lines of popular teen media.
